Together we will focus on how to build an understanding of what we are reading by focusing on the main component of a story. The various topics that we can focus on in terms of reading comprehension would be central idea, theme, characters, settings, creating mental images, and much more. The needed background knowledge for the session is any type of reading comprehension practice and fluency practice (oral reading). If the learner has a book or story to use, we will utilize the book for the session and as well as the focus for the session. I will be providing on going feedback and assistance throughout the session. When scheduling a session, please provide if the learner will provide the material or if it is needing to be provided from the teacher and the reading comprehension focus (main idea, central idea, theme, etc.).
Learning Goals
The learning goal is for the learner to build comprehension strategies to help them learn and understand what they are reading to learn.
