In this 6 week course, students will learn beginning music theory as they begin their journey as a musican. Upcoming musicans will learn rhythmn, notations, notes, pitch, and much more!

Class Experience

US Grade 4 - 6
Beginner Level
This class will cover all that a beginner musician will need to know to be prepared for their upcoming private lessons, band class, orchestra class, etc. The students will learn what makes sheet music, how pieces can be different based on their rhythmn and key signature, and how to overall read music. We will start the class with any questions and/or celebrations (accomplishments) that we may have and end the session with a reflection and questions. We will have discussions and overall demonstrations of the fundamentals of music.

The learning goal is for upcoming musicians to learn the basics of music and to become fluent in reading music as they continue their music journey.

Unit 1: Introduction
Lesson 1:
Introduction to Music
 The students will be able to recognize what makes music music and how they differentiate from one another.

Lesson 2:
Clefs and Staff
 The students will be able to read bass and treble clef.

Lesson 3:
Special Signs
 The students will be able to recognize common signs such as repeats, fortissimo, crescendo, and descresendo.

Unit 2: Notes and Key Signatures
Lesson 4:
Notes
 The students will be able to identify the correct notes in a given clef.
