US Grade Kindergarten
Beginner - Intermediate Level
The students will be learning letter- sound correspondence, rhyming, segmenting (sounding out) words, blending sounds into words,identifying syllables and high frequency words. The class will meet three times a week and start with any celebrations we may have or what we learned from the previous session and end it with an independent practice and questions the students may have. We will be utilizing a whiteboard and dry erase marker, spelling pattern cards for practice, journal or loose leaf paper, and a list of the high frequency words (will be given towards the middle of the course). We will have many opportunities for practice and some time for independent work time.
Learning Goals
The learning goal is for students to build a strong letter-sound correspondence and decoding skills (segmenting and blending) that will help them become better readers.

Familiarrizing with the Alphabet
The students will be able to understand that there are 26 letters in the alphabet, there are two types of letters (consonants and vowels) and each letter makes a sound.

Rhyming Words
The students will be able to identifying and producing rhyming words.

Onsets and Rimes
The students will be able to recognizing spoken alliteration or groups of words that begin with the same spoken onset or initial sound.

Lesson 4:
Writing and Sounding Out VC and CVC words
The students will be able to sound out and write vowel- consonant and consonant-vowel-consonant words.

Parental Guidance
YouTube will be used to introduce a lesson or a be a fun song for the end of the lesson. An account may need to be created.
Supply List
Whiteboard and dry erase marker (can easily be found at Dollar Tree or Dollar Store), journal or loose leaf paper, and the high frequency list which will be given beginning to middle of the course.
