In this one on one session, students will learn reading comprehension skills and strategies to read engaging text and apply said strategies to answer questions that follow.

US Grade Kindergarten - 5
Beginner - Intermediate Level
Students will read engaging text that is tailored to the child's specific needs and learn strategies to apply to answering reading comprehension questions that follow the text. I will use a variety of genres and will work one on one with the student. I model strategies initially, we practice and then the student will show understanding by applying the skills taught. During the session, students will work with me closely as I assist and model various strategies using slides, videos and other materials. During practice time, students might be asked to play a game to show mastery of concepts. We will cover poetry, fiction and non fiction text.
Learning Goals
The goal of this course is for each student to be able to practice reading comprehension skills to apply to a variety of text and questions and to become more accurate at answer questions correctly.Another goal of the course will be for students to become more familiar with how to approach various genres of text.
