Class Experience

This 4-week online self-paced course is designed to equip neurodivergent (e.g. ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder) or any students with strategies and tools to independently initiate and complete tasks. This course content has been developed by a certified educator with a background in working with students within an educational setting with ADHD, ASD and Emotional Disabilities using principles of applied behavior analysis. 
 
By the end of this course, students will be able to: 

Identify strategies to break down tasks into manageable steps.
Practice using time management tools to stay focused and on track.
Explore methods to prioritize tasks and create a schedule.
Develop self-monitoring skills to assess their progress and make adjustments as needed.

Learners will have the opportunity to explore these topics through mini-lectures, interactive activities, discussions,and/or video clips. 

Each week, learners will be guided through a variety of essential skill building topics with videos that have been pre-recorded, along with interactive lessons, readings and much more.

Lesson 1:
Breaking Down the Mountain: Task Decomposition
 Feeling overwhelmed by big tasks? This module equips you with ninja-like skills to break down any project into manageable steps. Learn cool strategies like mind maps and checklists to conquer your to-do list with confidence!

Time Tamers: Mastering the Clock
 Does time ever feel like it's slipping through your fingers? This module unveils the secrets of time management superheroes!  Discover how to use timers, schedules, and planners to stay focused and on track throughout the day.

Prioritize and Conquer: Making Choices
 Ever feel pulled in a million directions? This module equips you with the power of prioritization! Learn how to distinguish between urgent tasks and those that can wait. Develop strategies to stay focused and avoid distractions, so you can conquer your goals like a champion!

Reflect, Adjust, and Move Forward: Self-Monitoring for Success
 Sometimes even the best plans need a tweak. This module teaches you how to become a self-monitoring master!  Discover how to track your progress, identify areas for improvement, and adjust your strategies for ultimate success.

Other Details

Parental Guidance
Canva is used for students to access the class materials using a link provided by the instructor. This access is view-only and does not require a user to have an account. However, if there is an independent activity in this course, the user will need a Canva account. In order to use Canva, a FREE email personal account will be required to create their account. If a learner is not old enough to create their own email account, a parent Canva account is acceptable for learners who are not able to open up an email account to create their own Canva account. None of the paid Canva features are required for this class, and the free Canva account will suffice. Young learners will need to know how to access their/your personal Canva account prior to the start of class.
