What Does an Executive Function Coach Do?

An Executive Function Coach provides specialized support to learners facing challenges like ADHD and other neurodivergent conditions that affect executive function. I help students strengthen their skills in areas such as organization, time management, and self-regulation, while building confidence and independence.

Here’s How I Can Help:
- Assess and identify your strengths and challenges, uncovering hidden potential.
- Rebuild confidence, especially if you have been feeling discouraged or frustrated.
- Set and achieve goals—whether improving grades, developing habits, or completing long-term projects.
- Create actionable, step-by-step plans for success, with clear progress tracking.
- Guide you through your personalized plan, teaching key skills along the way.
- Provide you with reminders and support between sessions to keep you on track.
- Work with parents and caregivers, offering collaboration and feedback through messaging
- Help develop custom organizational systems that fit your unique needs, keeping important items easily accessible.
- Assist in creating home accommodations that reduce stress and improve routines.
- Teach you how to advocate for yourself with teachers and peers.
- Translate the common but challenging expectations of the neurotypical world for the neurodivergent mind

What Does a Coaching Session Look Like?

Coaching sessions follow a structured yet flexible approach:

Session 1 – Getting to Know You:
I will briefly introduce myself but this session is all about you: your experiences, your niche interests, your strengths, your challenges, and what you need from me

Session 2 - Debunking and Reframing
We will debunk common myths surrounding executive function, discuss why previous advice may have been unsuccessful, and reframe important concepts.

Session 2 – SMART Goals:
Together, we turn an identified challenge into a SMART goal—Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound. This will be a goal that you find personally meaningful.

Session 3 – Stumbling Blocks:
We discuss barriers and introduce targeted tools and strategies to overcome them. Progress tracking methods are also introduced.

Ongoing Sessions:
After the first four sessions, we’ll focus on continuous improvement—what’s working, what needs adjustment, and explicit instruction on essential skills. These include planning, task initiation, attention, emotional regulation, impulse control, and communication. We’ll also work on fostering motivation, a growth mindset, and self-advocacy.

How is Executive Function Coaching Different from Tutoring?

Tutoring focuses on improving performance in a specific academic subject, while Executive Function Coaching takes a broader approach to foster success across all areas of life. Coaching helps learners strengthen executive functioning skills, such as organization, time management, and self-regulation, which can boost academic performance and build confidence and independence. The benefits extend beyond school, empowering learners with life skills, better communication, self-care, and the ability to thrive in various situations. Coaching helps people not just succeed academically, but grow into more capable, self-sufficient individuals.

What is a typical schedule?

One 45 minute session per week
Brief check ins with learner between sessions, through Outschool messaging, to offer encouragement or helpful reminders
Collaboration with parents/caregivers as needed, through Outschool messaging

If you need more support, we can schedule two sessions per week.

Optional - if you need more support but have limited availability, you may prefer one live coaching session per week coupled with my self paced Executive Function lessons. These lessons will offer videos, slides, guided notes, and optional homework.
*Self Paced classes coming soon!

Why is this more expensive than your Select Skills class?

Executive Function Coaching offers a higher level of personalized support tailored to your individual needs. Unlike the Select Skills class, which provides pre-existing lessons to choose from, coaching includes custom support, goal setting, task management, and ongoing check-ins between sessions. This ensures continuous guidance and aids in perseverance. This support also includes the creation of personalized tools such as digital templates for organization and project management, all designed to foster long-term success. You get a deeper level of hands-on involvement, personal involvement, and customization.
