This class not only boosts writing performance but also helps students apply these skills across all their academic subjects. What Will Be Taught? Each class will cover key executive function skills in the context of high school English and writing: • Strategies for planning and organizing essays and other writing assignments. • Time management techniques for completing writing tasks efficiently. • Approaches to staying focused and motivated while writing. • Techniques for analyzing literature and developing strong thesis statements. • Practical exercises to apply executive function skills to writing and literature assignments. Class Structure: This class meets once a week for 55 minutes, with each session dedicated to a specific theme. We will work on setting SMART goals, planning time for revisions, making realistic time estimates for writing tasks, and recognizing your own personal writing pace.

Time Management for Writing Success
Develop strategies for managing your time during writing assignments. This lesson focuses on techniques to stay on track and meet deadlines with less stress. We will work on “chunking” tasks, finding what works for you – like “eating the frog” or “three tasks”, developing accountability both internally and externally, and using methods like pomodoro timers to focus when managing time.

Analyzing Literature with Confidence
