If your learner struggles with organization, time management, emotional regulation, and problem solving, the strategies taught in this class can help! In this course learners are introduced to skills and strategies to help them better manage the tasks of their lives. Each week a different Executive Function skill area is explicitly taught and skills and strategies are shared to support development of that Executive Function skill. The focus of this course is on equipping learners with skills and strategies they can use on their own that will enable them to better execute tasks successfully throughout their lives. Learners are encouraged to try and reflect on these strategies, and each week learners are challenged to employ the strategies shared and to reflect on their implementation. Group participation is highly encouraged. Specific topics associated with Executive Function skill areas by week: Week 1: Introduction to Executive Functioning Week 2: Problem Solving Process Week 3: Emotional Regulation, Part I Week 4: Emotional Regulation, Part II Week 5: Goal Setting Week 6: Organization Week 7: Time Management Week 8: Task Initiation, Part I Week 9: Task Initiation, Part II Week 10: Working Memory Week 11: Sustained Attention Week 12: Metacognition & Summary In addition to class sessions, each week a "Weekly Challenge" associated with each of the Executive Function skill areas taught is presented to learners. This "Weekly Challenge" reminds learners of what was taught, challenges them to employ a strategy in their own lives, and engages them in meaningful reflection about the effects of employing the strategy/strategies in their lives. Learners are encouraged to complete the "Weekly Challenges" to practice the skills and strategies presented and discussed in class and to share their experiences with the group.

Welcome to my classroom!
For 30 years I've helped students appreciate literature, develop their rhetorical and creative writing skills, and better organize and complete tasks. A central goal of my teaching & coaching is empowering students with strategies they can make use of on their own, and in each class I encourage students to participate fully in our sessions together by contributing to class discussions and asking questions.
I have a Bachelor's Degree in English Education, a Master's Degree in Literature, and a Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction. My current class offerings include literature studies, book clubs, creative writing and formal essay writing classes, and Executive Function coaching.
When I'm not teaching, I love spending time with my family and traveling! :)
