Feeling unheard? Want to build stronger friendships and communication skills?  This interactive 4-week online course dives deep into the power of listening!

This interactive asynchronous course will equip learners with the knowledge and skills to improve their communication skills and help them interact confidently with others.  

There will be NO Live meetings for this course.  Materials will be uploaded weekly for learners to access at their convenience on Sunday of each course week.   

Learners will discover how listening helps you understand others, build stronger relationships, and even get what they want! They will have the opportunity to practice their listening skills in a safe and supportive environment and develop strategies for overcoming communication challenges. Overall, learners will discover how to be a better listener and speaker, ensuring they're both heard and understood.

By the end of this course, learners will be able to:
 
-Explain how ADHD or ASD can impact communication and identify their strengths and areas of growth as a communicator. 
-Understand and identify different communication styles. 
-Express themselves clearly, respectfully, and effectively in both public and private conversations.

Learners will have the opportunity to explore these topics through mini-lectures, interactive activities, discussions, and/or video clips. 

Each week for learners will be guided through a variety communication skill building topics with videos that have been pre-recorded, along with games, readings and much more. Students will also receive access to the Google Slide presentations used in class.

over 4 Weeks
Lesson 1:
The Confidence Code: Communication Skills for Success
 Explore how ADHD can impact communication and identify your strengths and weaknesses as a communicator. You will discover techniques to truly hear what others are saying and improve focus during conversations, develop techniques to control interrupting, manage conversational flow, and navigate social situations smoothly. 
Lesson 2:
Unlock the Magic of Listening: Get Heard & Get It!
 Discover how listening helps you understand others, build stronger relationships, and even get what you want! You will practice your listening skills in a safe and supportive environment, develop strategies for overcoming challenges and gain the confidence to express yourself clearly and effectively. 
Lesson 3:
Find Your Voice: Mastering the Art of Self-Expression
 Learn to recognize limiting beliefs and develop a positive self-image that empowers your voice. You will learn how expressing your true self leads to stronger connections and communication. You will practice techniques to help you express your needs and opinions clearly and confidently, while respecting others' perspectives. 
Lesson 4:
Navigating the Conversation Maze: Public & Private Chats
 Discover how to tailor your communication approach based on the people you're interacting with, both in public and private settings. You will learn about assertive, passive, and aggressive approaches and how to choose the most appropriate style for different situations. You will practice how to tell if a conversation should be private or public when communicating with others.

I am completing coursework and clinical hours towards becoming a behavior analyst with a focus on applying the principles of applied behavior analysis in the classroom/education settings through functional skills training.
