In these 1-on-1 nutrition education sessions, learners will have the opportunity to explore a nutrition topic of their interest or choice.  They will explore topics through mini-lectures, interactive activities, discussions, and/or video clips. These sessions use a student-led approach which involves empowering the learner to take active role in their own health and well-being journey. 

The topics learners can choose from include but not limited to:

As the teacher, I will act as a guide and facilitator, providing expertise, support, resources and engaging activities to help the learners understand the importance of adopting healthy eating habits. The learner will be encouraged to develop self-awareness about their eating habits and explore strategies for making sustainable changes to their diet and lifestyle.

Note: These sessions are not designed to provide personalized dietary, medical and/or mental advice as it relates to eating habits or nutrition. These nutrition educations classes are based on science and facts. Nutrition education classes are instructional sessions designed to teach individuals about various aspects of nutrition and healthy eating habits. Please consult with your learner's physician about services related to their personal health and wellness.

Supply List
For each session, learners should have a journal/one-subject notebook, pencil or pen, highlighters, color-pencils or markers. All other materials will be provided by the instructor. Some sessions may require handouts that should be printed but not required to print prior to the session.

I am a middle school basketball coach with experience and training in working with student athletics to ensure they are healthy and safe while practicing and participating in competitive sports. My annual training from the National Federation of State High School Associations includes sports nutrition, concussions in sports, heat illness prevention, heat illness prevention, and protecting students from abuse. I am also a Certified Personal Trainer and a Certified Nutrition Coach from the National Association of Sports Medicine.
