Class Experience

This class is a continuation of Beginner Violin Group Class Level 1. If your learner has not taken that class, please contact me to ensure that the level will be appropriate.

Week 1: Review of concepts covered in Violin Group Class Level 1 - violin and bow hold, finger placement, sound production, rhythms, simple songs
Week 2: Mary Had a Little Lamb
Week 3: "Fancy" Mary Had a Little Lamb
Week 4: Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star

Exact songs to be covered will depend on the individual group. Each class will incorporate warm-ups, review, new material, and games designed to enhance our violin learning. We will also learn scales and continue to work on string crossings and clear sound.

Music reading may be introduced depending on the learners' interest. Otherwise, we will continue with off-staff notation in Level 2.

Learners MUST have an appropriate-sized violin, bow & shoulder rest to take this class. Please message me for guidance on obtaining an instrument or with any other questions you have. If your learner is outside the age range, please get in touch to ensure that the class will be appropriate.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I could tell you about my qualifications, but that alone won't tell you who I am. I have a MMus. in Violin Performance, B.Mus. in Violin Performance, and BA in French. I have been teaching for over 30 years and thankfully still love it!

I currently offer violin, viola, piano, French, and Hebrew classes. My educational philosophy is guided by the main principle of my 25 years as a licensed Kindermusik educator: "Follow the child" - if learners are engaged and having fun, not only will they retain the information but they will want to learn and progress more!
