Class Experience

Beginner Level
Welcome to Hebrew language for young learners! In this class, we will be learning alef-bet along with speaking, reading and writing in Hebrew. **Please note that this is NOT an immersion class. The majority of class is taught in English, and I will translate all Hebrew words used, ie. "Ani rotzah oogah! I want cake!" No prior knowledge is required to take this class. It would be ideal if learners are ready to write since that will be a component of this class. Each week will have a different theme. **If your learner is not ready to write yet, please look for my Alef-Bet Music & Movement class for ages 4-7 years!**
*If there are fewer than 3 learners enrolled for any given week, class will be cancelled for that particular week and you will be refunded. A decision will be made at least 24 hours in advance as per Outschool policy.*

Through songs, puppetry, and turn-taking, your learners will expand their Hebrew vocabulary each week.
Weekly themes (subject to change):

Week of October 14 - Seasons
Week of October 21 - NO CLASS
Week of October 28 - Colours
Week of November 4 - Fruits
Week of November 11 - Vegetables
Week of November 18 - Family
Week of November 25 - Transportation
Week of December 1 - Jobs
Week of December 8 - Time
Week of December 15 - Musical Instruments
Week of December 22 - Chanukah Vocabulary
Week of December 29 - NO CLASS
Week of January 5 - Places I Go

Learners can join at any point since each class will stand alone in content, ie. it is not a cumulative course. In addition to our theme of the week, we will learn basic conversational words. The amount of writing will depend on the individual class since some are more interested in speaking than writing, and vice versa!
Learning Goals
Students will learn to recognize, write, and read the alef-bet along with learning how to say our "theme words" in Hebrew.

Profile
Teacher expertise and credentials
I could tell you about my qualifications, but that alone won't tell you who I am. I have a MMus. in Violin Performance, B.Mus. in Violin Performance, and BA in French. I have been teaching for over 30 years and thankfully still love it!

I currently offer violin, viola, piano, French, and Hebrew classes. My educational philosophy is guided by the main principle of my 25 years as a licensed Kindermusik educator: "Follow the child" - if learners are engaged and having fun, not only will they retain the information but they will want to learn and progress more!
