Welcome to Level 5 Violin! This class is for you if you: *have played the violin for at least 6 months *can play repertoire at a similar level to the first half of Suzuki book 1 *want to learn more about music reading *want to learn more music on your violin! Week 1 - Warm-ups - We will work on different warmups for both bow and left hand, including finger patterns & tone production Week 2 - Repertoire - We will explore different repertoire focused on gaining new technique skills and improving music and rhythm reading. Week 3 - We will continue to work on reading music in the treble clef Week 4 - Performance techniques, ie. how to prepare for a performance including tips and tricks to keep your focus Week 5 - New finger patterns - "low 2" on the A and E strings Week 6 - Performance week! This week we will re-cap all music learned so far, and each learner can choose a piece to perform for the class Please contact me with any questions prior to enrolling in this class if you have not previously taken violin classes with me. The above is only a sample schedule. Actual repertoire and skills learned will depend on the makeup of the class.
Learning Goals
Students will learn more repertoire and also focus on attaining more skills in note reading, thus enabling them to learn more independently. By the end of Level 5, students should be able to play pieces in Suzuki book 1 up to #11 (Andantino).
