Homework
1 hour per week. I will ask students to work on some skills and short pieces on their own during the week.Assessment
Informal assessment based on teacher observation. Teacher evaluates technique using the camera and microphone and addresses this with targeted exercises.Class Experience
I will meet each learner where they are and develop goals using interesting musical repertoire as a vehicle. Students may have their own music they want to learn or I will supplement with materials that build their technique and skill. I teach new material through demonstration and call-and-response before making a practice plan for the student to continue growing. I do use smart music software at times to illustrate musical concepts to young learners. I have taught orchestra for over 23 years and it still delights me to see a child play his or her first "Twinkle."
Learning Goals
Students will improve their performance on stringed instruments. We progress through posture and basic technique through more advanced reading and technical skills.
