Students who have been playing are welcome to take lessons. I teach beginners through intermediate violin and viola beginners through intermediate players. I make sure to differentiate and tailor how I teach based on how each individual student learns. Students will learn proper technique and posture with holding and playing their instrument of choice as well as basic music theory knowledge needed in learning a new instrument. Students must have the correct sized instrument to start lessons. Please ask me if you need some help in figuring out what size instrument your student will need.

Hello! My name is Gwen Bohm and I am an experienced strings teacher. I currently work at Appleton Area School District in Appleton Wisconsin as an elementary strings teacher and I also give one on one lessons online and in my home. I specialize in teaching beginner and intermediate level students of all ages. I have been a licensed strings teacher professionally for over 19 years and have been involved in learning how to play instruments for 40 years. I enjoy getting to know my students and having fun in lessons :). You will learn that I take teaching very seriously but at the same time, I am very easy going and comfortable to work with.
My educational philosophy behind my teaching revolves around my student's mind, body, and spirit. Every day I see how the power of music can touch people's lives in so many ways. My goal is to share my knowledge to help students enjoy learning how to play an instrument and have fun making music. My ultimate goal is that the power of music improves or enriches my students' lives in a positive and everlasting manner.
Something fun and personal about me is that I love to kayak and I have two dogs :)
I look forward to working with you !!
