Powell Family Cooking: Cooking With Confidence (Ages 12-16)

Join our on-going cooking club! This class is designed for kids ages 12-16 to learn easy and nutritious recipes. Your child will gain confidence in the kitchen while making delicious, weeknight meals. Perfect for teen chefs.

What's included

1 live meeting
55 mins in-class hours per week
Homework
1 hour per week. Students may need to finish parts of a recipe after class, such as allowing dishes to set in the refrigerator for the required time.
Letter Grade
Letter grades or certificates of completion will be offered upon request.

Class Experience

US Grade 6 - 9
Calling all Junior chefs! Give your parents a night off in the kitchen and learn how to make simple weeknight meals. In this course, we will cover ingredient measurement, basic techniques, nutritional benefits, recipe customization, and storage. Each session includes step-by-step instructions, hands-on practice, interactive Q&A, and discussions. Learn to feel confident while cooking and have fun with friends!

Each class is scheduled for 55min.  Depending on the recipe, and skill level of students, we may finish a little early or late.  Find the list of ingredients in the supply list on Sunday of each new week.

Learning Needs
I incorporate a structured, step-by-step approach to instructions, visual aids, and provide a calm teaching environment. Each session includes interactive elements to keep students engaged and frequent check-ins for understanding.
Parental Guidance
During our cooking class, please be aware that using knives to cut ingredients may require parental supervision for younger children. Mixing and stirring should be done on a stable surface to prevent spills. Assistance may also be needed when handling items. Please note potential allergens in our recipes. Substitutes can be used as needed. If you have concerns or need help with ingredient substitutions, please contact me. Supervision is recommended to provide an enjoyable experience. Thank you for ensuring a safe and fun learning environment for our students.
Pre-Requisites
Basic kitchen safety awareness and the ability to follow instructions are beneficial. This class is accessible to all skill levels.
