Beginner - Advanced Level
Anxiety is a normal emotion that can be a protective response to stress. It can help people prepare for and pay attention to potential dangers. However, anxiety disorders are different from normal feelings of anxiety and involve excessive fear or worry that can be difficult to control. In this super interesting class your student will learn about... Different parts of the brain using a kid friendly Hand Model to help students learn step by step the different parts of the brain that are involved in the flight or fight response and how they affect us. Learn where Stress & Anxiety comes from & how it affects the body and can make us feel. Different Coping Skills and handouts to reflect on why these skills would be a good fit for your child. **Each lesson has reflection questions, handouts and video posts from me explaining each lesson to follow up on material to ensure comprehension and understanding. Your student can post questions in the classroom and I will answer them within 24-48 hours to ensure your child's understanding of the lesson. If your child requests more materials (within reason) I will post extra assignments as requested.
Learning Goals
Students will learn at their own pace about fight, flight, freeze and fawn response. Students will learn about how the stress response affects the brain and body during a crisis.
Reflection Questions to ensure understanding.
All of the materials are Student friendly and easy to understand and follow.
Students will have a better understanding of themselves and their stress. My hope is that your student will feel more in control of their anxiety next time they have this response because they will have a better understanding of what is going on in their body and brain.
They will also have an idea of what Coping skills they can use and how it can help their stress. If they complete the reflection piece on the coping skills they should understand why the coping skills can help them in the future and will be more likely to use them. When it comes to Coping Skills...Practice makes Permanent!!
