Class Experience

US Grade Kindergarten - 12
Beginner Level
This class will cover the types of anxiety and the ways each person experiences feelings differently.
We will learn coping mechanisms, practice useful communication skills, and students will have the chance to vent and dump whatever is on their mind. Examining the underlying beliefs that fuel the anxiety can be extremely helpful so that we can reconfigure the beliefs and manage the anxiety.
We will also learn and practice communication skills to make interactions with friends and family easier and healthier.

This is a safe space, judgement-free zone. Class is tailored and personalized to meet students at any age level or comfort level.

Class 1: Navy Seal Box Breathing Method and Five Finger Breathing
Class 2: 4 F's "fight, flight, freeze, fawn" and helping students identify which one they are, then covering multiple coping mechanisms to regulate each one.
Class 3: Text taking anxiety skills
Class 4: Butterfly hug and tapping
Class 5: Brain parts and functions. How do they affect anxiety? Covering the limbic system, frontal lobe, and brain stem.
Class 6: Circle of control
Class 7: Establishing healthy boundaries and what to do if these boundaries are crossed.
Class 8: The 6 areas of wellness and making sure we stay balanced to reduce everyday stress.
Class 9: Time management, scheduling, and goal setting.
Class 10: The parasympathetic system, how to turn it on and off. (Big word! Not a very hard concept to master though!)
Class 11: The vagus nerve. What is it? Where is it? How does it affect anxiety?
--> We will end each class with a "Be, act, think" prompt card.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I am 8 months away from having my degree in child psychology and development, specializing in social anxiety and mental health. I've already completed all the counseling technique classes and just wrapping up electives at this point. The goal of this class is not to treat or diagnose students but to educate them on what anxiety is and how it can be managed.
