In this class your child will get the tools to help them build confidence, understand self esteem and learn how to list their strengths! Your child will be invited to self reflect and see themselves in a more positive way!

Homework
There is no required work for this class but at times some handouts can be done in between classes if your child is enrolled for more than 1 of the classes. The material can build as we go through topics. If your student wants extra handouts, I am happy to send them worksheets and materials to further their understanding.
Assessment
There is one pre-quiz at the beginning to see where your child is at and how much they know about self esteem and themselves. Post quiz allows your child to summarize what they have now learned and see how much they have grown over the last 5 weeks.

Class Experience

Beginner - Advanced Level
In this 5 week Class your student will learn the following topics through handouts, videos from me, stories and crafts! Each week there is a new topic building on the goal of Developing and maintaining a healthy Self Esteem. Each topic corresponds to the learning goal and all activities are planned to achieve that week's learning goal and skills. 

 Weekly topics include: 
**What is Self-Esteem?
(Learn what self-esteem is and where it comes from)

*Positive Self Talk: How do we say positive things about ourselves and where can I add it?
(Learn how to use positive self talk)

*Negative Self Talk: Quieting the Bully in your brain- How negative thoughts, needing to be perfect, feeling like failing can affect how we see ourselves. 
(Learn how to challenge negative thoughts )

*Being your own best friend: Changing the script and perspective- What would you say to your best friend? 
(Learn self-assurance & being confident in the things that we say and do)

*Connection: How are our feelings connected to our behavior?- Learning how we can feel more positive and do more positive things! 
(Learn the CBT model & Learn some ways to express your feelings and understanding how this builds self worth)

I will post an instructional video each week to check in with your student and also make sure materials are understood and explained well. The class is 5 weeks long and each week will cover new topics that are broken into Units & lessons related to building confidence and positive self skills. Students will define what Positive Self talk is and complete Social Emotional Handouts, and learn more about themselves. 

There is one pre-quiz at the beginning to see where your child is at and how much they know about self esteem and themselves.

Unit 1: Self Esteem 101
Lesson 1:
What is Self-Esteem?
 Learn what self-esteem is and where it comes from. 
Lesson 2:
The opinion of others...
 Who and what can affect our self esteem? Looking at scenarios and how others around us can affect how we see ourselves. 
Unit 2: Self Talk- What is in your head?
Lesson 3:
Positive Self Talk
 What is positive self talk? How do we say positive things about ourselves and where can I add these skills in my life. 
Lesson 4:
Negative Self Talk: Challenging negative thoughts
 Quieting the Bully in your brain- How negative thoughts, needing to be perfect, feeling like failing can affect how we see ourselves.

Learning Needs
This is not a live class, however teacher will be in contact each week on Monday This class is for all learners. I do my best to modify and accommodate for all of my students' needs so please reach out to me after enrollment to let me know
Parental Guidance
This class is not mental health therapy or should it replace mental health services.
Supply List
NO materials are required. If any materials are needed like crayons, writing materials, paper...
I will always let parents/guardians know before the class by posting in the classroom. Also the materials are always if the student would LIKE to color the sheet or participate in the given activity, it is never a requirement.

I have experience working doing in home therapy with children with Autism, working in a therapeutic day school where I made a lot of social emotional lessons and facilitated SEL groups. I have experience writing IEP  & 504 goals and understand how to break down lessons and differentiate lessons for all kinds of learners.
