1:1 SEL Class: Learning About Mindfulness and How to Outsmart Our Worries!

Class Experience

In this 1:1 class your student will define Mindfulness and learn what practicing Mindfulness means in their life and daily routines. Students learn what coping skills will work best for their needs and learn how to identify that through fun games, stories and other materials. Your student will make a gratitude list, journal, or jar depending on your student and their needs/preference. 

This class will give a brief overview on coping skills and how to bring them into their daily routines starting now!

Every student will learn skills that are unique to their needs and age. For example for younger students skills such as bubble breathing or cupcake breathing (blowing out the candles) these may require a visual such as a handout so they can see the candles. Older students will be more able to control their breathing and use guided imagery (visualized a beach, forest).

Learning Goals

Students will improve their knowledge base into what Mindfulness is, a clearer understanding into how they feel when their Mind's are Full with worries and how we can switch that to being Mindful and more present to the here and now. 

**Define and Identify being Mindful vs Mind- Full 

**Learn how to observe better in their environments and practice mindfulness in their daily routines. 

**Add Coping skills to their life and schedule 

**Identify Gratitude and Practice it

This class can be modify to fit any learners needs. Please reach out to me after enrollment so we can discuss any specific needs your child may have.
Parental Guidance
I am a licensed clinician however I am facilitating material in an educational model and will not be providing therapeutic services to your student. These workshops are not intended as a substitute for Mental Health Services nor does this program provide psychotherapy or mental health group therapy. If a child discloses information that indicates they may be unsafe towards themselves or others, I will inform the guardians and Out-school Safety with this information. I also have an obligation as a mandated reporter to make a report with child services. These workshops are intended to be used as informative, preventive and instructional tools to help our children grow and meet their social emotional milestones in the most successful way!
Supply List
If a handout is needed I will always try to send it over at least 24 hours prior to class time so you can print it out if needed.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

Teacher expertise and credentials
 I am a clinical licensed social worker and certified clinical trauma professional.  I have my Masters in Social Work and Bachelors in Social work, Associates in Elementary Education. In my Therapeutic world, I specialize in Anxiety disorders in adults & children, Anxiety & Disordered Eating treatment in Children and Adolescents, I have a background and experience with EMDR, DBT, Thought Field Therapy and others. I am currently working on my complex trauma level II certification and Certified Shame-Informed Treatment certification.  I have been in the social work field for 8 years in many different settings and I thoroughly enjoy developing SEL curriculum. 
 I have a background working with children with autism, domestic violence, and working at a therapeutic day school and inpatient hospital setting working with Adolescents and families. I have written goals for IEPs and 504 plans. I currently work in private practice. I write curriculum and love facilitating groups.
