Class Experience

Week 1: Topic /Theme 1: Who are you? Making a different kind of self portrait when we take the traditional self portrait and combine it with a "Me" Collage! - We will look at the following and discuss these works

⇢ Week 2: Topic/Theme 2: Finger Print people! We will create a picture of your Friends and talk about the qualities you like in your friends. Create a scene of something you like doing with your friends or Family! Using our fingerprints, different colors of paint and 1 black marker! 

⇢ Week 3: Topic/Theme 3: Pumpkin Kitty, Pumpkin Puppy? What Kind of Pumpkin do you want to draw? We make some fun Pumpkin themed Paintings while talking about Halloween fun & safety! Or Make a Ghost for Halloween time 🎃👻

⇢ Week 4: Topic/Theme 4: Dandelions!!!! Did you know the Dandelion is a symbol of Hope? We will make Dandelions using paint and Q-tips! 

⇢ Week 5: Topic/Theme 5: Flowers!!! Making Flowers with Plastic Forks, we make creative scenes with paints, fun and different way to make flowers! While working we will discuss what makes our flowers unique and then what makes us unique!

⇢ Week 6: Topic/Theme 6: Once Upon a Time... We will create our very own fairy tale or story!! This can be whatever you imagine! Dragons, Princesses, Space...any adventure you can think of!!

⇢ Week 7: Topic/Theme 7: Making your own Mandela!!! Learn how to make your own Mandela using Lines, dots, splashes, hearts and other shapes we will talk about! We will discuss Coping Skills and using Art as a way to relax and decompress!!

⇢ Week 8: Topic/Theme 8: Learn how to draw a Tree with many branches and bringing some life to your art. In this class we learn how to make Trees look more real and textured. We will discuss different support we have in our lives, family and friends while making our trees. 

⇢ Week 9: Topic/Theme 9: Emotion Tree- We build on our tree drawing skills from last week and will discuss & identify our emotions. 

⇢ Week 10: Topic/Theme 10: My Gratitude Jar!- We will draw a Jar and decorate it. We will discuss some topics such as :  Why is gratitude important? What are you grateful for? Who are you grateful for? 

⇢ Week 11: Topic/Theme 11: Dinosaurs!!! We will trace our hands in a cool way that will give us a Dinosaur.  We will then paint it with a Comb!!! 


⇢ Week 12: Topic/Theme 12: Superhero! What would you look like as a superhero? What would your powers be? Why are these important to you?

Learning Needs
Depending on your child's age and abilities some parental guidance may be needed if scissors are used or painting projects this is at the parents discretion and not a requirement.
Parental Guidance
This class does not treat or diagnose mental health disorders. This class should not be used as an replacement or alternative to Mental health treatment.
Supply List
Supplies will vary depending on the project. Common items that can be used are crayons, non-toxic paint & brushes, white paper, scissors, colored pencils, 

Some items that may be added to above list depending on the project: 
plastic forks (painting with forks to make flowers), a drinking straw (blowing paint- My Crazy Hair project), Scissors & Colored Construction Paper  (*Alternatives--Color white paper first and then we can cut it out or cut up magazines (cutting out paper to make animals)

Other supplies will be listed with the projects!

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I have been in the field since 2015 and have worked in many different settings. I personally love to paint and create art. I have found it to be a very useful tool when working with students and clients over the years.
