What's included
Homework
1-2 hours per week. To have all supplies and ingredients ready at the start of each class. There will be a list of items needed for each week.Class Experience
This is a 4 week flex class. No live classes. You might ask why choose a flex class? Your learner could complete the class at a time that is best for them during the day of the week, rather than try to rearrange their schedule for a particular day and time that the class has been set. Your learner doesn’t have to finish the recipe within the set time of a live class and feel rushed or feel like their waiting, on their peers, they could easily pause the video, if needed or take extra time to finish up. In a live video setting students could find they are going quicker or much slower than their peers. Your learners will post pictures to share with their peers. Your learner will engage in written responses with their peers and practice giving compliments. In this 4 week flex class there will be no live meetings. I will guide your child via prerecorded videos where they could watch me as I guide them via, the prerecorded videos. The prerecorded videos, could be paused or fast forward each week if needed. They could ask questions within the group and I will respond as soon as possible. Their peers could also give them some feedback. If I don’t answer right away, I’m not ignoring you, it could be possible I’m teaching a class, but I will answer as soon as possible. First week: Students will make buttercream icing, chocolate Icing, fondant and candy clay. They will also be learning how to color their icings. They will also practice filling bags, practicing with our piping tips and making different boarders. Which we will be using in our following classes. Second week: They will bake a boxed cake, as this class is geared towards decoration and decorating their cakes. We will go over getting leveled baked cake and learn how to properly store and freeze it. They will make fondant decoration and learn how to make a fondant bow, like the one pictured and will be using it in the following week. They will also learn to make candy clay roses. Third week: They will learn the fundamentals of crumb coatIng their cake and assembling it, to set that perfect foundation to ice their cake, and decorate it. Fourth week: They will be making two fillings one fruit filling and a custard filling from scratch, which they will use as a filling for their grand finale cake. They will bake a cake of their choice to decorate with the basket weave and the fondant decoration made in previous weeks. We will also go over more piping tips. I have listed the classes in that order, allowing them to build upon their confidence in the coming weeks with their cake decorating, in their kitchen with me guiding them via pre-recorded videos each week and by them asking questions within the classroom. Students will post a picture or video to introduce themselves to their peers, as this is a flex class and NO LIVE VIDEOS, will be posted. You will ask questions to get to know your peers and correspond in the classroom. I will be available to answer questions throughout the days and for each weeks class. I do teach live classes, so if I don’t respond right away, I’m not ignoring you, it is possible I’m in a class. Most of my teaching is done by 3-4 pm. Pacific Time. I’m in California. I can’t wait to see your beautiful masterpieces you all create. I will give individual feedback on your photos or video which ever form you choose to post. Ages are suggested could be a little younger or older than listed ages. Once done learners will be able to share their beautiful masterpiece with the class and family and friends. If you’re wondering if those are my pictures and work, they are. All those cakes made my me. I can’t wait to meet you in your kitchen! Happy Decorating, Sweet T’s Edible Art Classes 🧁🎂
