Class Experience

While everyone struggles with feelings of overwhelm sometimes in their lives individuals with ADHD tend to struggle with these feelings more often and with more intensity. Feelings of overwhelm can be caused by many different things but one of the most frequent causes is when there is too much going on or a task seems to big to tackle. Feeling overwhelmed can often stop individuals with ADHD from completing the things they need to get done regardless of how simple or complex they are. Overwhelm is often part of a cycle created by the various challenges in executive functioning that individuals with ADHD struggle with. During this class students will learn to understand this cycle and learn strategies to help them interfere with this cycle.

During class we will
- Discuss what overwhelm is
- Learn how ADHD contributes to the intensity and frequency of feelings of overwhelm
- Explore what types of things make us feel overwhelmed
- Learn about strategies to help us deal with tasks that are overwhelming and get them done
- Discuss how to reduce the likeliness of getting overwhelmed

This class will teach learners various strategies about how to tackle overwhelm and will also help them to learn about themselves. ADHD can cause some very frustrating symptoms but through learning to understand how our brains work we can accept ourselves for who we are and take steps towards becoming our best selves. All of my ADHD classes offer a supportive and positive environment for ADHD learners to feel accepted and heard. Having ADHD myself allows me to truly connect with the struggles that the learners are facing and offer mentor ship and advice.
