In this individualized course students will learn violin technique and repertoire in accordance to their skill level and experience. I will focus on establishing a good foundation at the beginning, using the Suzuki repertoire to develop technical and musical skills. Later we will work on various studies and larger scale works personalized to the student's specific needs and interests. Examples of techniques that we will work on include: how to make a beautiful sound, producing various articulations, improving intonation, shifting, vibrato, rhythm, and musical phrasing.
Learning Goals
Students will learn to play the violin in tune with a beautiful sound that supports their musical ideas and expression.

Teacher expertise and credentials

I teach violin lessons and classes on various topics relating to music and performing in a baroque style. Being Suzuki Book 1 & 2 registered, I have experience teaching violin from the very beginning and have taught online through Outschool since May of 2020. In teaching music I hope to deepen people's understanding of music of various styles and give them the tools to understand and play music that will enrich their lives in the long term.
I have a Bachelor's of Music in Violin Performance from the University of North Texas and am currently working towards my Master's in Baroque Violin at Indiana University. When not teaching I regularly with professional period instrument ensembles including the Dallas Bach Society, Lumedia MusicWorks, Bloomington Bach Cantata Project and the Oklahoma Bach Choir.
In addition to my musical pursuits, I can speak German, am an avid home cook, and happen to be a triplet.
