35 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
There will be some foundational work in each class on using the notes of different scales to improvise. Then the whole class will play long notes forming a chord that students will take turns improvising on. We will go over some scales in different modalities and discuss ways that we can alter and improvise on favorite tunes that we all know. Students should have about 1 year of experience on their instrument, and be familiar with a few basic one octave scales.
Learning Goals
Students will learn how to express themselves more freely on their instrument and create music that is uniquely their own. They will also learn about ways that they can alter a scale to change the mood of what they are expressing.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree in Music or Theatre or Arts from University of North Texas
I teach violin lessons and classes on various topics relating to music and performing in a baroque style. Being Suzuki Book 1 & 2 registered, I have experience teaching violin from the very beginning and have taught online through Outschool since May of 2020. In teaching music I hope to deepen people's understanding of music of various styles and give them the tools to understand and play music that will enrich their lives in the long term.
I have a Bachelor's of Music in Violin Performance from the University of North Texas and am currently working towards my Master's in Baroque Violin at Indiana University. When not teaching I regularly with professional period instrument ensembles including the Dallas Bach Society, Lumedia MusicWorks, Bloomington Bach Cantata Project and the Oklahoma Bach Choir.
In addition to my musical pursuits, I can speak German, am an avid home cook, and happen to be a triplet.
