Homework
2-4 hours per week. Practicing at least 5x a week will help students to progress with their lessons. This might start out with 15 minutes a session and could later progress to over an hour.Class Experience
Basics of how to hold and take care of the violin and bow will be taught, in addition to parts of the instruments and other basics of playing. We will also learn some songs and fun rhythmic variations on them. A violin with a bow, rosin, cleaning cloth and shoulder rest is required. Having short fingernails is also important when playing a bowed string instrument. It is helpful to have a parent present during lessons to support their child and know how to help their children during the week. I will provide lesson notes with practice goals for each lesson, and will be available to answer additional questions throughout the week as needed.

I teach violin lessons and classes on various topics relating to music and performing in a baroque style. Being Suzuki Book 1 & 2 registered, I have experience teaching violin from the very beginning and have taught online through Outschool since May of 2020. In teaching music I hope to deepen people's understanding of music of various styles and give them the tools to understand and play music that will enrich their lives in the long term.
I have a Bachelor's of Music in Violin Performance from the University of North Texas and am currently working towards my Master's in Baroque Violin at Indiana University. When not teaching I regularly with professional period instrument ensembles including the Dallas Bach Society, Lumedia MusicWorks, Bloomington Bach Cantata Project and the Oklahoma Bach Choir.
In addition to my musical pursuits, I can speak German, am an avid home cook, and happen to be a triplet.Reviews
