1-2 hours per week. Homework assignments in this Pre-Algebra and Geometry course serve as valuable opportunities for learners to reinforce their understanding and apply the concepts covered in class. Homework focuses on the following aspects: 1. Practice: Students are given exercises that allow them to practice problem-solving techniques and reinforce the mathematical principles covered during class sessions. 2. Application: Homework tasks encourage learners to apply their knowledge in real-world scenarios, helping them understand the practical relevance of mathematical concepts. 3. Independent Thinking: Assignments include questions that require critical thinking, enabling students to analyze problems from different angles and develop their problem-solving skills. 4. Review and Consolidation: Some homework tasks involve reviewing and revisiting previously covered topics, ensuring that learners retain and build upon their knowledge. 5. Preparation: Students may be assigned pre-reading or pre-learning tasks to familiarize themselves with upcoming topics, enabling them to actively participate in class discussions and engage more effectively. 6. Individual Progress: Homework assignments provide insight into each student's individual progress, allowing the instructor to identify areas that may require additional attention or support. Completing homework is an essential component of this course, enabling students to deepen their understanding, reinforce skills, and prepare for future class discussions. It is encouraged that learners approach their homework with diligence and seek clarification from the instructor if needed, fostering a comprehensive understanding of the subject matter.Class Experience
US Grade 5 - 8
Beginner Level
Welcome to a comprehensive and engaging course on Pre-Algebra and Geometry. Students will actively participate in note-taking and problem-solving sessions. Both class-wide and individual discussions will help reinforce mathematical concepts. After each class, students will receive helpful handouts and homework assignments. The final five minutes of each session are dedicated to addressing any questions or concerns. In Pre-Algebra, topics range from integers and fractions to order of operations and algebraic expressions. In Geometry, we cover angles, triangles, quadrilaterals, polygons, circles, and various geometric calculations. The class pace is adaptable based on the students' readiness, ensuring optimal progress. Please consider your child's math level when enrolling, as this course is designed for younger students who are seeking a more advanced curriculum. I am readily available for messaging and provide supplementary guides and worksheets as needed. Additionally, personalized one-on-one tutoring is offered to students who require extra support. Please note that a 10-minute grace period is given at the start of each class, and if students do not attend, the session will conclude. Pre-Algebra Topics: Class #1: Integers & Fractions (Addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division). Class #2: Order of Operations & Evaluating Expressions (PEMDAS). Class #3: Algebraic Expressions (Simplifying and combining terms) & Distributive Property. Class #4: Pre-Algebra Review and solving one-step equations. Geometry Topics: Class #5: Angle Measurement, Angle Addition, Angle Classification, Angle Pairs, and Angle Congruence. Class #6: Vertical Angles, Perpendicular Lines, Parallel Lines, Interior Angles, and Exterior Angles. Class #7: Triangle Perimeter, Triangle Area, The Pythagorean Theorem, Pythagorean Triples, Special Triangles (30-60-90 and 40-45-90). Class #8: Quadrilaterals - Trapezoids, Isosceles Trapezoids, Parallelograms, Rhombuses, Rectangles, and Squares. Class #9: Polygons - Regular and Irregular Polygons, Convex and Concave Polygons, Polygon Sides and Angles, Exterior Angles of Polygons, Inscribed and Circumscribed Polygons. Class #10: Circles - Radius and Diameter, Regions of a Circle, Pi, Circumference. Class #11: Perimeter, Area, and Volume of Triangles, Rectangles, Squares, Parallelograms, Trapezoids, Rhombuses, Polygons, Unusual Shapes, Cubes, Cylinders, Cones, and Spheres. Class #12: Comprehensive Review of all topics covered.
