Class Experience

US Grade 6 - 9
Experience: I have a BS in Mathematics and a Masters in Education. I have taught Basic Math, Pre-Algebra, Algebra( Regular and Honors), Geometry(Regular and Honors) and Pre-Calculus.

Pre-Algebra: This is an ongoing class for students who are at the math 8 or pre-algebra level and we will meet twice a week which involves student interacting with the teacher and complete one or two weekly assignments/assessments. Since this is an ongoing class, you are welcome to join at any time and attend for as many weeks as you need. This offering will be good for homeschool students and for students who want to get extra help in specific concepts. There will be an ongoing update of what will be taught each week. I will be updating the outline often so as to keep parents informed of the concepts that will be taught. I will be offering this class on a Monday/Wednesday 9 am central time schedule and also on a Tuesday/Thursday 2 pm central time schedule.

Homeschool Parents: This course will continue the entire school year and will give your child an opportunity to earn credit for the Pre-Algebra course. Please note that there will be a place where students will be assessed that you can access to assure your child is successful in the Pre-Algebra course. In addition, students will have access to worksheets for homework assignments and answer keys to check their understanding that you can have them put into a binder for proper assessment of the course.

Class Structure: I like to teach with the I do, we do, you do method of teaching. Each class I will introduce a topic, work on some examples, have students work examples with me, and then have students work on the examples by themselves to ensure understanding. Hopefully students will have an opportunity to start the assignment during class time and sometimes complete it during the class time. This will give students an opportunity to ask questions as needed. I will post notes and assignments as pdf files on the class page as needed. In addition, I will invite students to join a classroom through ck-12..org This is where I will assign some assignments and assessments. You will be able to access their reports to see their grades at any time.
