Prepare for success in Algebra 1 and lay a solid mathematical foundation with this comprehensive 4-week online course. Algebra 1 is a critical stepping stone in the high school mathematics curriculum, providing essential skills and concepts for success in higher-level math courses and various STEM disciplines. In this focused and structured program, students will review fundamental algebraic topics and develop the problem-solving skills necessary to excel in Algebra 1. Through a series of structured modules, students will revisit key pre-algebra concepts, explore foundational algebraic topics, and build the confidence needed to tackle Algebra 1 with ease. This course is meant as a pre-algebra refresher for those learners who have already completed a pre-algebra class and want to prepare for Algebra 1. Each week, I will provide guided notes, homework, and answer keys. Homework is optional; I will leave it up to parents to choose what is best for their child. Students are encouraged to ask me to review any homework problems they don’t understand. The goal is for families to have the ability to tailor homework to their needs; students can do a portion of it, none of it, or even request more challenging practice. During each class, students are encouraged to ask questions. Most of the class will review new lessons with guided notes and complete practice problems; students will have the opportunity to practice their skills in class and share their answers with me via private chat. Students will also have the opportunity to practice their skills on Delta Math. Some of the topics covered: - The Real Numbers (Integers, Fractions, Decimals, Exponents, Square Roots, Prime Numbers) - Variables and The Order of Operations - Expressions, Equations, and Inequalities - Ratios, Proportion, and Percents - Functions and Graphing *Subject to change based on what students need to work on and how fast we cover the topics

Teacher expertise and credentials
Master's Degree in Education from Strayer University
I majored in engineering before acquiring my bachelor’s of science in Computer Science (lots of math classes!) and later earned a Master’s Degree in Education. I have 14+ years of teaching many subjects and ages; however, I have taught Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Geometry, and Pre-Calc for high school students for the past 10 years. I love seeing the 'aha' moments students have when concepts click!
