Class Experience

US Grade 8
This course will include live meetings, as well as guides and worksheets provided by the instructor. Students are expected to attend each weekly class (or watch recordings if they are unable to attend), and submit their homework by sending an image, scan, or PDF. As this is a 16-week course, students should practice and complete homework outside of class throughout the week to keep up with the fast-paced curriculum. Parents are encouraged to ensure that their children are completing their work outside of class.

Throughout the course, students will use both Khan Academy and outside worksheets. Unit tests may be issued on Khan Academy, and a final course review will be administered to assess the students' retention of information and readiness for 8th grade. The instructor will provide recorded videos via Google Classroom for students to reference, but there will be no communication on this platform. Interaction will only be done through Outschool and live meetings.

Before taking this class, students should have a solid understanding of elementary math concepts such as multiplication, fractions, decimals, division, addition, and subtraction. If students are struggling in any area, I also offer one-on-one tutoring at an additional cost. Students are encouraged to message the instructor with any questions or concerns, but it is important to be on time for live meetings as the instructor will leave after 10 minutes if no one joins.

The weekly schedule will cover topics such as negative numbers, fractions, decimals, percentages, rates, proportional relationships, expressions, equations, inequalities, geometry, and statistics and probability. Week 15 and 16 will be reserved for review and extra time if needed.
