POETRY PERCH (Nonet/Acrostic/Septolet) These three summer camp days will be a blast, and you won't even have to work up a sweat! We'll learn how to write Nonet, Acrostic, and Septolet poems. Fly on in! Day 1 - NONETS let you tell the story of your choice. You just have to follow the rules! You've got nine lines and 45 syllables in which you can share all the interesting details. Day 2 - ACROSTICS let you begin with one word and expand it into a complete poem with a line for every letter of your initial word. It makes for a fun challenge! Day 3 - SEPTOLETS are seven-lined poems with only 14 words. You’ll be surprised at the impact only 14 words can have! Mrs. Rae Marie (M.Ed.) (Writing, Poetry, Fantasy Fiction, ACE Educator)

I'm a poetry nut! I love to read poems, and I love to write them. I get excited about teaching various forms of poetry to young writers, because they are easy for them to understand and execute. Producing these forms often brings on lots of smiles, giggles, and "Ah ha!" moments! That makes me happy!
