US Grade 4 - 7
Your readers' initial interest and the lasting impact of your expository writing can be greatly enhanced by the use of truisms. Far too often, readers will never read beyond the first paragraph because we simply didn't catch their attention or make a personal connection with them. What a shame it is to pour your heart into your work, but to never see its impact on others. In this session, we're going to learn exactly * what a truism is and what it isn't, * the important role it plays in your writing, * it's proper placement in your papers, * and how to write it. * We will gain a clear understanding of truisms through a slide-prompted discussion. * We will practice writing truisms through the use of picture prompts. * We will also practice through the use of word-only prompts. This is going to be fun and productive!!! Remember, we are all expanding our knowledge together (including the teacher). I'm looking forward to learning with you! Mrs. Rae Marie (M.Ed.) (Writing, Poetry, Fantasy Fiction, ACE Educator)

I've gladly been able to help students prepare their writing skills for state testing. Truisms often meant the difference in a low or high score for many of my students. Aside from that, I understand that as writers, we have a need to engage our readers on deeper levels. This class will help make this happen.
I absolutely love to write and share the joy of writing, and I've taught writing for several years. I understand that writing isn't everyone's cup of tea, so I am beyond happy to share some ways to bring your words to the surface. Oftentimes, it's just a matter of sorting out what's happening in your brain and getting it to come out in the right order. I'm here for you!
