US Grade 4 - 7
This class is all about Haikus, a traditional Japanese poem. There will be a mini-lesson on the history of haikus and the structure they have, and then a teacher demonstration of the writing process for a haiku (brainstorming, rough draft, revising, editing, and publishing). Students will then write their own haikus with peer and teacher feedback. We will then publish by writing a neat copy on white paper and adding an illustration.
Learning Goals
Students will be able to replicate the syllable pattern in their own haikus.
Students will be creative with their word choice and line structure in their haikus.
