Description

Class Experience

Students will understand how poetry is different from regular prose.
Students will identify and compose the following types of poetry: acrostic, cinquan, sensory, limerick, haikus, shape/concrete, clerihew, and diamente poem.
Students will have time to complete their work in class, but they may wish to edit and revise their poetry after class. However, it is not a requirement.
Students will need paper and pencils or other writing utensils.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
The poetry they compose will be used to provide an informal assessment.
1 hour 20 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Parents are encouraged to review the types of poetry that will be studied during this course and to supervise students during class since they will be using writing utensils.
