Welcome to our dynamic, poetry exploration. In this class, we'll dive deep into the world of poetry, unraveling its mysteries by delving into vocabulary, dissecting figurative language, and immersing ourselves in the beauty of diverse poetic forms. Whether you're a seasoned wordsmith or a budding poet, join us anytime to read, write, and celebrate the magic of language together, as we embark on a poetic journey where creativity knows no bounds. The class will follow this schedule: 5 minutes - introductions 10 minutes - mini lesson 10 minutes - read poetry (examples of what we will be covering that day) 10 minutes - write poems 10 - share and review Class 1 - Introduction to Poetry, what is poetry, Class 2 - Rhyme Scheme - Write a rhyming poem. Class 3 - Simile and Metaphor - Write a poem with a simile or metaphor. Class 4 - More on metaphors - Revise previous poem or write a new one. Class 5 - Free Verse - Analyze and describe a free verse poem. Class 6 - Simply Nonsense - Write a nonsense poem. Class 7 - Heritage Poems - Write a heritage poem. Class 8 - Review and share their favorite poem they wrote. In this class the students will compile a variety of poems they have written to keep and share.
