Class Experience

Beginner - Advanced Level
In this class, we will learn the building blocks of music theory & composition. Basic notation values, instrumentation, and how to correctly write music will be covered in this class. Questions are welcome both before, during & after class. While learners do not need to have access to an instrument for this class, if they wish to play a song they have written, it would be beneficial to have the instrument ready for class. Other topics can be covered on request.

Since this is a 1:1 class, all curriculum will be learner-directed. Any level from beginner to advanced is welcome. I also specialize in preparation for RCM exams, and high school and/or university entrance exams/auditions.

Learning Goals

Learners will gain knowledge of the building blocks of music - key signatures, time signatures, notation, rhythm, composition, etc.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi! I am a musician offering classes in guitar, cello, music theory & composition. I have 4 different music degrees and have been teaching for over 20 years in the US and Canada. My main goal for learners is to enjoy the process of music-making.
Fun fact: I umpired softball for 25+ years and once even got to umpire for a national tournament!
