In this 8-week online course, students will learn the basic elements of graphic design. The topics that will be discussed are as followed by class week:
Example Schedule-Dates Will Vary Based On Start Date of Class. Each class will begin with the Week 1 Topic.
Week-1: Lines
Week-2: Shapes
Week-3: Colors
Week-4: Text
Week-5: Images
Week-6: Texture
Week-7-Space and Scale
Week-8-Final Review and Portfolio Completion

The class is structured as lecture style, learner-centered, and project-based, to review the graphic design element of the week using slides, video clips, and images. Students will apply each element through guided practice during class and through a demonstration activity posted in their individual digital graphic design portfolio to be completed outside of class.

Students will be expected to complete assigned weekly design projects or design projects of their choice in their digital portfolio to demonstrate proficiency in the use of various graphic design elements to create digital design products.

No graphic arts design experience is needed. However, students should have knowledge and experience related to basic computer usage and navigation of websites. For example, students should understand what it means to “right-click” on-device mouse or to “click on” the home tab of a computer program.
