Homework
1 hour per week. Optional: Learners may not always finish and may want to add to their designs after class.
Assessment
Informal assessments are optional and available upon request at the midway and end point of the course. If you would like to receive an assessment of a learner's progress, please forward a copy of the projects that they have already completed in a private message to the teacher and they will respond with a short written explanation of what the learner is doing well and where they can improve. The assessment will not include a numerical or number grade.
Grading
Pass/Fail grades are available upon request to learners.

Explore the rich tapestry of artistic expression through our course on different art styles and movements, seamlessly integrated with graphic design using Canva. This course offers a quick look into various pivotal art movements and then replicates their styles using Canva. 

Course Overview:
Realism: Depicting everyday life without embellishment. Learn about key artists and create your own Realism-inspired work using Canva.

Impressionism: Capturing moments with innovative light and brushstrokes. Study Monet and Degas, and design Impressionist pieces on Canva.

Surrealism: Blending reality with fantasy. Explore the works of Dalí and Magritte, and produce your own surreal art with Canva.

Art Nouveau: Showcasing elegance and intricate natural forms. Understand this style's influence on architecture and design, and create Art Nouveau pieces on Canva.

Cubism: Deconstructing objects into geometric shapes. Learn from Picasso and Braque, and experiment with forms and perspectives in Canva.

Avant-garde: Embracing radical change and innovation. Dive into unconventional techniques and create avant-garde art with Canva.

Pop Art: Engaging with popular culture and mass media. Study Warhol and Lichtenstein, and design vibrant Pop Art creations on Canva.

Abstract Expressionism: Expressing inner feelings through abstract forms. Explore Pollock and Rothko, and create expressive abstract pieces on Canva.

In addition to learning about these pivotal art movements, students will have the opportunity to create their own art pieces inspired by each style using Canva. By the end of the course, you'll not only have a deeper appreciation for these artistic movements but also a portfolio of your own inspired creations made with Canva. Join us for an inspiring journey through the evolution of art!

In this class, learners will be able to design alongside the instructor to create their own graphic design.  The teacher will screen share a design that she is creating as learners use their creativity to create their own design.  

Parents will need to sign learners up for a free Canva account before class.  Learners will need to be logged into their Canva account prior to the start of class.  (The learners can fully participate in the class with the free account.  The teacher will demonstrate some of the things that can be accomplished with premium features).

Realism
 Discover the beauty of everyday life as we explore Realism, an art style that strives to depict subjects as they appear in everyday life, without embellishment or interpretation. Learn about its historical context and the artists who mastered this style. Create your own Realism-inspired artwork using Canva, applying techniques that capture the essence of this movement.

Lesson 2:
Impressionism
 Step into the light and color of the Impressionist movement. Understand how artists like Monet and Degas captured the essence of moments through their innovative use of light and brushstrokes, transforming the art world forever.  Use Canva and experiment with Impressionist techniques and bring your own scenes to life.

Surrealism
 Enter the dreamlike world of Surrealism, where reality blends with the fantastical. Parental Guidance
Parents will need to sign learners up for a free Canva account before class. Parental consent is required.
Pre-Requisites
Learners will need basic computer skills including an understanding of drag and drop and how to conduct this task on their device. They will also need to know how to navigate multiple windows if they are using Canva on the same device that

Learners will need to have an adult register them for a Canva account and complete the Canva assignments on the web version of canva on a laptop or desktop computer.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
