✨We are proud to be the first and only accredited Montessori school on the Outschool platform, featuring certified teachers who bring their expertise from our brick-and-mortar school located in Ontario, Canada.✨ In this Montessori Winter Multisensory Reading Class, learners will explore different reading techniques through fun, hands-on activities that engage multiple senses. Designed for children in grades 1-3, this 6-week course combines Montessori’s sensory-based approach with winter-themed books to enhance reading skills and comprehension. Each week will focus on a different reading technique paired with a winter-themed book, with words drawn directly from the story. Our sensory activities will help solidify the reading concept and build a connection to the story for better comprehension. 𝗖𝗟𝗔𝗦𝗦 𝗦𝗧𝗥𝗨𝗖𝗧𝗨𝗥𝗘: Each class will begin with a shared reading of the book, followed by comprehension mini-games to engage learners with the story. We will then introduce the sensory activity, using it to reinforce that week’s reading concept. Through games, discussions, and video clips, learners will interact with both the material and their classmates in a fun, dynamic setting. My teaching style is fun, engaging, and productive. I use a combination of interactive discussions, sensory-based activities, and playful learning strategies to keep students engaged while mastering new reading skills. Each activity is designed to be engaging and encourage participation, ensuring every child feels involved and supported throughout the course.
Learning Goals
Learners will develop the ability to distinguish between short and long vowel sounds in words, helping them decode and read with greater accuracy. By recognizing these vowel patterns, they will become more confident in sounding out new words.
Learners will be able to identify and count syllables within words, enhancing their ability to read longer, multisyllabic words with greater fluency. This understanding will also improve their ability to break down complex words into manageable parts.
