 Week 1
Lesson 1
Greetings, Weather/days of the week, Numbers to 10, and simple conversations
Students will begin by learning basic greetings (e.g., bonjour, au revoir), which form the foundation of social interactions. Through playful exercises and songs, they will grasp simple vocabulary related to weather and days of the week (e.g., il fait beau, lundi). Numeracy skills will be introduced with numbers up to 10 (un, deux, trois), using fun games and visual aids to reinforce learning. Additionally, they will participate in role-play and storytelling to practice simple conversations.
 Week 2
Lesson 2
Numbers 1-10
Students will explore numbers (un, deux, trois...) through playful games, songs, and hands-on activities, helping them grasp counting and numerical concepts in French. Visual aids and colourful materials will be used to reinforce their understanding and memory of numbers.
 Week 3
Lesson 3
Colours
Learning colours in French (les couleurs) will be an exciting adventure through vibrant visuals and interactive games. Students will discover words like rouge (red), bleu (blue), jaune (yellow), and vert (green), among others. Activities involving colour mixing, sorting objects by colour, and identifying colours in their surroundings will deepen their comprehension.
 Week 4
Lesson 4
Animals
Students will learn about various different animals. They will explore and learn about farm animals, pet animals, wild animals, and sea animals. An emphasis will be placed on interactive learning experiences that promote language acquisition naturally and playfully. By immersing themselves in the world of animals in French, students will develop foundational vocabulary skills
 Week 5
Lesson 5
Food
Students will explore the world of food (la nourriture) through interactive games, songs, and role-playing activities. They will learn to name common foods such as le pain (bread), les fruits (fruits), les légumes (vegetables), and les gâteaux (cakes). Activities may include pretend cooking sessions, where they can identify and name ingredients in French, and sorting games to categorize foods by colour or type.
 Week 6
Lesson 6
Shapes
Studenst will learn about shapes (les formes) in French which involves discovering basic geometric forms such as le cercle (circle), le carré (square), le triangle (triangle), and le rectangle (rectangle). Children will engage in activities like building shapes with blocks, tracing shapes on paper, and identifying shapes in their environment. Songs and visual aids will reinforce their understanding and vocabulary retention.
 Week 7
Lesson 7
Transportation
Students will explore modes of transportation (les moyens de transport), learn names like la voiture (car), le bus (bus), le vélo (bicycle), and le bateau (boat). They will participate in activities that involve matching pictures of vehicles, creating traffic scenes with toy cars, and singing songs about different ways to travel. This exposure helps them build vocabulary related to transportation while developing their language skills.
 Week 8
Lesson 8
Body Parts
Students will discover parts of the body (les parties du corps) such as la tête (head), les yeux (eyes), les mains (hands), and les pieds (feet). Through songs, games like Simon Says (Jacques a dit), and interactive activities, they will learn to identify and name body parts in French. Activities may also include drawing and labeling body parts, and gentle exercises that involve pointing to different parts of their own bodies.
This class is taught in French.
  • Students will learn to recognize and say numbers from 1 to 10 in French. They will count objects and associate them with their corresponding French numbers.
  • Students will acquire basic French vocabulary related to everyday objects, activities, and concepts. They will use simple French words and phrases to describe common items and actions in their environment.
  • Students will identify and name primary colours and other basic colours in French. They will learn to match colours and objects together, and recognize names.
  • Students will learn to identify and name common body parts in French. This will foster real-life connections as they point out these parts on their own bodies.
  • Students will learn basic greetings in French. They will learn to use these greetings appropriately in daily interactions with peers and teachers.
  • Students will acquire vocabulary related to animals. They will learn to identify different animals in pictures and books.
  • Students will acquire vocabulary related to modes of transportation. They will begin to recognize vehicles with their names and discuss their functions.
  • Students will learn basic French vocabulary related to weather conditions. They will be able to describe different weather patterns and make simple observations about the weather in their environment.
  • Students will acquire knowledge of the days of the week in French. They will learn to identify the sequence of days, possibly through songs, games, and calendar activities.
  • Students will learn French vocabulary for common food items. They will learn to recognize the names and categorize different foods, possibly linking them to meals and preferences.

A weekly material list will be provided to you prior to the class, in preparation for the following week of classes. Learners are responsible for having the listed materials on hand and printed worksheets ready. If learners are missing a material, alternative suggestions can be provided. Classes will typically require commonly found household items or stationary such as: pencil, eraser, highlighter, scissors, stapler, glue etc. 
Parental guidance and support may sometimes be required to supervise young learners. We may need help using various stationary items (i.e., scissors, stapler etc.), or preparing materials before class.
