Class Experience

Star Wars is a franchise spanning a variety of films, television series, and books spanning across four decades and it shows no signs of slowing down. Each week throughout this class we will examine a different Star Wars film. We will focus on the three main trilogies. The prequels (1-3), the originals (4-6), and the sequels (7-9). All nine of these movies are available with a Disney + subscription. We will discuss the films in order of number rather than creation. A sample schedule is included below.

Week 1: The Phantom Menace

Week 2: Attack of The Clones

Week 3: Revenge of The Sith

Week 4: A New Hope

Week 5: The Empire Strikes Back

Week 6: Return of The Jedi

Week 7: The Force Awakens

Week 8: The Last Jedi

Week 9: The Rise of Skywalker

In my opinion it makes more sense to discuss the films in order of number rather than creation because this might be confusing for newcomers of the franchise. Even if we have seen the films already, I expect we should watch each film prior to our discussion. You do not need to watch all nine films in the same week. I ask that you watch the one film per week, you should watch whichever film we will be talking about that week prior to attending class.

All Star Wars fans are welcome to attend. We will not be going over a worksheet. This will be a discussion-based class. In our discussions we should mention what we liked about each film, what we didn’t like, who are favorite characters are, how each character felt throughout the film, how characters have changed at the end of the films, etc.
Learning Goals
Students will be invited to join this class and participate in as much of the in class discussions as possible.

Parental Guidance
I will do my best to keep this class as family friendly as possible. All students are expected to be respectful to each other and the teacher. The Star Wars films do depict minor violence and action sequences. Some characters do die in the films. There is very little to no profanity throughout these films and the violence is not excessively graphic. For examples scenes which demonstrate a character having a limb amputated by a lightsaber do not contain any blood.
Supply List
Learners will need to access a Disney + account to watch the movies which we will be discussing in class.
