Description

Class Experience

Students will be invited to join this class and participate in as much of the in class discussions as possible.
I am a lifelong Star Wars fan. I have 5 + years teaching experience. I have a lifelong membership with the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. At the associate’s level at Southern Maine Community College, I studied Criminal Justice and Psychology, this included learning to professionally diagnose a patient with a mental disorder. I have a bachelor's degree in Educational Studies from Grand Canyon University, and a masters degree in history also from Grand Canyon University. I also have more than 20 credits in English.
For homework learners should watch one Star Wars film per week.
Learners will need to access a Disney + account to watch the movies which we will be discussing in class.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
There will be no formal grading. This is meant to be a fun class.
45 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
I will do my best to keep this class as family friendly as possible. All students are expected to be respectful to each other and the teacher.

The Star Wars films do depict minor violence and action sequences. Some characters do die in the films. There is very little to no profanity throughout these films and the violence is not excessively graphic. For examples scenes which demonstrate a character having a limb amputated by a lightsaber do not contain any blood.
We will only be focusing on the main films for this class. We will not focus on spinoff movies, television shows, or books.
