🎥 Let's make a Youtube video in iMovie! 🎥 In this one time group class, students will learn the essential skills to edit videos for school projects, social media, or even their own YouTube channel. Students will explore the core functions of iMovie, including importing footage, cutting and arranging clips, adding transitions and effects, working with audio, and exporting polished videos. This class is designed for kids & pre-teens interested in video production and looking for a way to express their creative ideas. They'll walk away with the introductory skills needed to edit professional quality videos, and the knowledge to produce content for Youtube.
Learning Goals
Gain a foundational understanding of iMovie, including importing, editing, and exporting video and audio to create polished, professional-quality projects
Develop the confidence to independently edit videos, troubleshoot common challenges, and experiment with creative techniques like transitions, effects, and sound design to enhance their projects

Learning Needs
Class is designed to support students with unique learning needs, including ADHD, Dyslexia, and ASD, by offering step-by-step instruction and a flexible, engaging environment.
Parental Guidance
We will be using the editing program, iMovie, and students may need help adding the program to their computer, iPhone or iPad.
We may watch short film clips, all rated PG. These clips will be screened via screen share, so students won’t need access to YouTube.
Pre-Requisites
No prior experience or prerequisites are required. Learners of all skill levels are welcome to join.

To complete the class, students will need the following materials: - A laptop or device with internet access - iMovie (either IOS or macOS)

Over the years, I’ve taught filmmaking, video editing, and media production across various settings, including New York Film Academy, Columbia University, and private tutoring. My teaching experience spans middle school to university-level students, with a focus on hands-on learning, project-based instruction, and creative mentorship.
