Class Experience

This class will meet weekly for one hour and thirty minutes. All learners are welcome regardless of previous experience or skill level. This class will be a homebrew version of second edition. We will be informal and will not strictly follow traditional second edition. Our ongoing universe will be set in a world with five major countries. Each country is loosely inspired by real ancient world history and geography.

The land of fire will be an adaptation of ancient Rome.

The land of mountains will be an adaptation of ancient China.

The land of the wind and desert will be an adaptation of the Middle East.

The land of forests will be an adaptation of ancient Ireland and Celts.

The land of ice will be an adaptation of Viking Age Scandinavia.

Learners should create a second edition character sheet prior to attending their first meeting. Learners should also bring a pencil, an eraser, extra paper, and a set of dice. Alternatively, learners can utilize digital character sheets and digital dice rollers if needed. I will have extra premade characters for players who wish to use them or don’t have time to make their own. I have created a rule book and character sheet template which will be sent to all learners upon enrollment.

This class we be heavily reliant on learner communication and social interactions. Learners will take turns throughout gameplay. Players will be required to participate in role playing with one another and with myself as the dungeon master to advance the story. All learners are free to subscribe or unsubscribe as they wish as this class will be ongoing. A sample of our first four adventures has been created below. These adventures are not intended to be serialized as each week will start a brand new adventure to enable learners to drop in or out at any time and pick up play from any point. Future adventures will be determined by the pace of the learners as we advance through the story.

Week of July 5th, 2022 Adventure 1: We will survive a train robbery and help get civilians to safety.

Week of July 12th, 2022 Adventure 2: We will be enlisted by the king to rescue a princess from a tower.

Week of July 19th, 2022 Adventure 3: We will discover an abandoned haunted castle in the wilderness where we will explore and fight undead creatures.

Week of July 26th, 2022 Adventure 4: We will negotiate a treaty between two waring lands. The outcome will be a peaceful alliance or continued military conflict depending of the success of the players.
