includedClass Experience
Horror movies have lured fans to drive ins and theaters for decades. They are often inspired by our darkest fears, yet we find them entertaining. Horror movies tell stories of terror such as killers, evil clowns, ghosts, ghouls, zombies, vampires, werewolves, and other monsters. All horror fans are welcome to attend the class regardless of how many or how few horror movies they have seen. If you love scary movies this is the class for you. We will try to touch upon a variety of films and subgenres throughout our time together. This class will be learner directed after the first four weeks. Each week students will vote on a horror movie which they will watch outside of class and we will discuss the movie of the week in class. Students will share what they liked and didn’t like about the movie of the week. I will then lead the class in a scene for scene retrospective during which everyone is welcome to add their commentary. For the first four weeks I have picked topic films. A four week sample schedule is listed below. Week 1: It 1990 Week 2: Sleepwalkers 1992 Week 3: Pet Sematary 1989 Week 4: The Children of the Corn 1984 Future weeks to be determined. Future movies of the week will be voted on by students.
Learning Goals
Learners should come together as horror fans, have fun, and talk about movies.
