Class Experience

Welcome to acting for the camera! This is a great introduction or refresher to acting course focusing specifically on film, camera and commercial acting.. In this course, we will work on two projects. The first project is a commercial project, and the second is an acting scene from a film. At the end of the course, students will present the scene as a final product.

In this acting class, students will learn about script and character analysis, as well as the difference between film and theatre acting. They will apply the techniques to their projects.

Class #1: Getting to know you, Warm-ups,Film Acting Techniques, Difference between acting for film and camera. Begin commercial project.
Class #2: Commercial Project, Acting Techniques, Character Analysis
Class #3: Finish Commercial Project begin scene work. Voice/Movement workshop.
Class #4: Film Scene Rehearsal
Class #5: Dress Rehearsal
Class #6 Final Performance

Students will be given homework and worksheets to explore script and character analysis outside of class.

This is an introductory class but is appropriate for students who have acted for a while and those that are new. Every attempt will be made to pair students up with similar experience levels.

For students new to acting, I also suggest my Introduction to Improvisation, Private Lessons, or Comedy Club class, and intro to acting.

The class is mostly hands-on. I will give students feedback throughout the class. Although this class is more serious, VPAA's teaching style is student centered and very supportive.
