Description

Class Experience

Our goals are to come together as Stranger Things fans.
I have a bachelor's degree in educational studies and more than 20 credits towards a masters degree in history. I have 5 years teaching experience including teaching film studies courses. I have been a Stranger Things fan since it first premiered in 2016. I also have lived experience having once been in the same age group as the teenagers portrayed on this show, though I am an adult now I can still relate well to this age group.
Please watch one Stranger Things episode each week before class.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
There will be no grading, this is a fun class.
1 hour per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Stranger Things is a horror series and is rated 14+ with scenes depicting violence or that are sexual in nature. Stranger Things also includes some scenes with flashing lights which can trigger some medical conditions including epilepsy. With respect to Outschool’s global audience some families might not consider this content age appropriate. Please do not sign up if this course is outside of the comfort zone of your learners. A Netflix subscription is needed to watch Stranger Things, parental consent for Netflix is required.

In addition to the mature subject matter Stranger Things also includes references to 1980s American politics in support of the Regan administration. Character dialogue includes lines expressing anti communist sentiments. We will not endorse these political viewpoints in this class.

A Netflix subscription is required for this class.
