US Grade 7 - 12
Beginner - Advanced Level
This one-on-one course is designed to facilitate development of a visual media project or to receive feedback from the instructor on a script or other visual media project. It is ideal for students who are actively working on projects and need either guidance or feedback. In these one-on-one sessions, students are able to receive individualized feedback or guidance in support of their storytelling voices. Because the class is unique for each student, it can be beneficial for beginners or seasoned pros. In this class, students can: (1) Develop a visual media script from an idea; (2) Revise a visual media script; (3) Develop a visual plan for the execution of a visual media project; (4) Discover how to recruit crew and cast for their film project; (5) Plan the production of their visual media project; (6) Discover how to edit their project; (7) Plan the distribution of their project; and (6) Market their project to attract an audience. While no official grade will be issued, written assessments can be provided. For those who would like to create an individualized learning plan, please reach out to the instructor. The instructor has produced and developed many films, documentary and branded content projects and will bring that expertise to this course.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Master's Degree in Film/Cinema/Video Studies from New York University
I have taught filmmaking and film courses for over a decade in conservatory, university, homeschool and independent consulting settings. As part of this experience, I have developed programs, curricula and courses to reach students of all levels. My teaching is rooted in a deep commitment to student-centered learning and a belief in the transformative power of storytelling. My teaching philosophy is built on the following principles: (1) Meet each student where they are; (2) Communicate course requirements clearly; (3) Flip the classroom whenever possible; (4) Expect each student’s best; and (5) Serve as a role model. Because my experience is spread across diverse environments, the resulting teaching techniques have led to more student success. I also homeschooled my own children for a number of years and understand reporting to charter schools. I hold an MFA from NYU and am currently pursuing a PhD from Trinity.
