Poetry Analysis and Writing: Using Literary Devices and Elements
Class experience
US Grade 6 - 9
In this multi-day course, students will explore the following literary devices and elements: symbol, personification, flashback, metaphor, simile, hyperbole, alliteration, analogy, oxymoron, juxtaposition, idiom, euphemism, repetition, rhyme, pun, onomatopoeia, allusion, and more. Students will then analyze a variety of types of poetry and write poems integrating their understanding of the learned literary devices. Students will improve their understanding of literary devices and poetic forms.
Homework Offered
Students will need to practice writing poems.1 - 2 hours per week outside of class
