This is an interactive Science Camp where students will be introduced to science concepts that will include the Rock Cycle, Cloud Formation, Plate Tectonics, Star Formation, Dynamic Earth Changes, Volcanoes, Tsunamis, Geysers, Glaciers, Earthquakes, and Wildfires. Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Per Outschool Policy, Parents will need to remain Off-Camera during the class and experiments. Edible Rock Cycle Materials: Starburst candy pieces (4 colors, 3 of each color) Small heat-safe cup or bowl Heat source (hairdryer, microwave, stovetop, light bulb) Plastic knife Plate Make Your Own Cloud: PARENT SUPPORT NEEDED- the experiment is done in the last 10 minutes of the class, in other words at the 0:45 minute mark. a glass jar with metal lid (mason type works best with metal disk or an empty spaghetti sauce jars with metal lid) 1 cup of hot water from the tap (not boiling) 3-4 ice cubes PARENT JOB: 1 match or long lighter (the adult will light the match and hold it in the jar briefly then drop into the water) Moon Craters: 8x11 Baking dish (deeper sides - not a cookie sheet) White flour Cocoa Powder various round-ish shapes (bouncy ball, marble, rocks, erasers, toys, etc. - these will get flour on them)
