Welcome to Montessori Boot Camp ! In this 6-week course, students will dive into essential literacy and math skills to build a strong foundation for their academic journey. This class is designed to cover reading, writing, and math concepts through engaging, hands-on lessons that make learning fun and productive. ✨We are proud to be the first and only accredited Montessori school on the Outschool platform, featuring certified teachers who bring their expertise from our brick-and-mortar school located in Ontario, Canada.✨ 𝗧𝗢𝗣𝗜𝗖𝗦: 📖 𝙍𝙚𝙖𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜 In the reading segment, students will unlock the magic of phonetic blending, turning individual sounds into smooth words. They’ll learn to segment words, breaking them down into their essential parts, and master recognizing syllables. By the end, they’ll be confidently reading full sentences, discovering stories hidden within the lines. ✍️ 𝙒𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 Students will refine their handwriting skills by practicing perfect letter formation, focusing on control and consistency. As they gain confidence, they’ll progress from writing individual letters to forming full words and sentences, crafting their own stories on paper. This practice will strengthen both fine motor skills and creative expression. 🧮 𝙈𝙖𝙩𝙝 The math portion of the class will guide students through the exciting world of numbers. They’ll explore counting and number recognition up to 9,999, learning the foundational base 10 system. In addition, students will practice basic operations—addition, subtraction, and begin their journey into multiplication —building strong problem-solving skills. 𝗖𝗟𝗔𝗦𝗦 𝗦𝗧𝗥𝗨𝗖𝗧𝗨𝗥𝗘: Each class will include both literacy and math lessons. We’ll start by introducing the day’s concept through a short lecture, followed by interactive practice where students can demonstrate their understanding. After that, students will have time to work independently on worksheets or Montessori materials to reinforce their learning. The class will be fun, engaging, and productive, using a mix of lecture, games, slides, video clips, and group discussions to keep learners motivated. There will be plenty of interaction, with opportunities for students to ask questions, participate in activities, and receive personalized feedback. Expect a balance of guided instruction and independent work to help learners master each topic at their own pace.
Learning Goals
Students will confidently blend phonetic sounds to read simple words and sentences, mastering the foundational skill of phonetic decoding. Students will be able to read new words independently and recognize sound patterns in familiar words.
Students will learn to break words down into their individual sounds, understanding how each sound contributes to the whole. This skill will enhance both their reading and spelling abilities, helping them to decode and spell new words with greater ease.
